Guest House Tamga
People often call Issyk-Kul the soul of Kyrgyzstan because of its gold beaches and beautiful gorges. In deep gorges there are blue waterfalls and tienshan fir tree’s forests and above all this you can see snow peaks. There are not so many places in the world where you can see mixture of all these things.
Tourist Company “Kyrgyz-Travel” offers rest at the South Shore of Issyk-Kul Lake, in own guesthouse, which is situated in Tamga village (135 km from Balykchy town). In our guesthouse 7 rooms for 15 people, we offer:· Double and three-bed rooms

Jety-Oguz gorge
Jety-Ogyz gorge is in 90km from Tamga village. There is health resort that is situated on 2200m above sea level. People get treatment here in radon-hydrogen sulphide hot springs. In Jety-Oguz health resort being treated of arthropathy, rheumatic polyarthritus, lumbodorsal radiculitus, concussion of the brain after effects, etc. Excursion begins straight from the health resort area. You should stop 500 meters before the resort to watch red rocks. Then 8km further you get in to Kok-Djaiyk valley here on the meadows you have to stop, because there is no road further. From this place you can make trip (about 4 hours) to the Ailanysh and Bai-Tor rivers confluence. There is a wonderful view at peaks of main range Terskey-Ala-Too, Oguz-Bashi (5181m) and Armstrong (5000m) peaks, from this place. For those who like trekking we can offer two days trip from Kok-Djaiyk valley over the Kok-Bel pass (2600m) to Chon-Kyzyl-Suu gorge and more difficult tree days trip from Asan-Tukum gorge over Archa-Tor pass (3600m) to Chon-Kyzyl-Suu gorge.
Chon-Kyzyl-Suu gorge
Chon-Kyzyl-Suu gorge is in 40 km from Tamga village near by Con-Kyzyl-Suu village. This gorge got its name because of red rock that gives red colour to river; from Kyrgyz language it means “big red water”. From 2000 meters above sea level begins fir tree forest with plenty of mushrooms and berries. At the confluence Djili-Suu and Con-Kyzyl-Suu rivers there is a health resort the same as in Djety-Oguz. But water in hot springs is more hot it is +43’ C. One-day program let you make trip to physiographic station and to waterfalls on the river. Slopes are covered by typical fir tree forest, but 300-400 meters peaks give the gorge unusual view. If you would like to make two days trip in the gorge you spend night in tents and next day have excursion to Kashka-Tor gorge to Kara-Batkak glacier. There is a lake surrounded by glacier. River Kashka-Tor flows from this lake. In the east part of the glacier there is Armstrong peak (5000m). you can make a trip to 100m waterfalls Shatyly. By advance request you can have four days trip: Con-Kyzyl-Suu gorge - Ashu-Tor glacier - Arabel valley - Kashka-Suu pass - Kashka-Suu gorge - Djuuka gorge.
Djuuka gorge
Djuuka gorge is in 35 km from Tamga village near by Saru village. Its length more than 50 km and about 30 km of its territory is covered by forest. At the Djuuka and Djuukuchak rivers confluence there are red rocks covered by grass, which has emerald tint. In a 6 km from confluence there is health resort. Excursion to Djuuku gorge takes one day. By your request we can organize two days trip. First hiking to confluence of Kashka-Suu and Djuuka rivers. Tent camp. There is a wonderful view at It-Tish peak (4808m). Next day to the upper reaches of Kashka-Suu and Djuuka gorges. There are a lot of mountain lakes. At most Chokaly-Kol 3 km long and 400 m wide it is situated at 3750 meters above sea level. The most interesting lake is in Kashka-Suu gorge (its 800 m long and 200 m wide) it is situated at 3600 m below sea level along axis line of the range and rives flow from this lake both to Issyk-Kul and to Arabel valley from the other side of range. All lakes have different colors deep green, chlorine, and turquoise, yellow-green, bluish-green.
Barskoon gorge
In 6 km from Tamga village there is a Barskoon gorge. Its length more than 30 km. Along the gorge goes road, which connects Issyk-Kul valley with valleys of Inner and Central Tien-Shan. In the beginning of the gorge its slopes are covered by steppe flora and sparse bushes. Then begins fir tree forests zone. You can see nice mixture of fir trees and different colored bushes of barberry, mountain ash, sea-buckthorn, currant, raspberry, dog rose and honeysuckle. And also you can see wonderful view of Issyk-Kul Lake. At 2800 meters above sea level forest grows thin it is place for juniper forests. Above forest zone goes alpine meadows zone and bright colors of meadows changes green of trees. There are more 20 lacets of mountain road goes along glaciers to the pass. And very interesting Barskoon waterfalls just the reverse fourth bridge of Barskoon river. In the beginning of the gorge there is an ancient fortress (IX-XIVcc).
Taralga gorge
From Barskoon gorge road goes to Taralga gorge it is small but very nice place. People rarely visit it. Wonderful view of alpine meadows and snow peak above all. This gorge is very good for one-day excursion.
Tamga gorge
It is the closest and most available gorge. The stone Tamga-Tash named it. More than thousand years ago people cut characters on the stone and they are still well. In Tamga gorge three gorges goes in one. There you can make a good hiking, or if you like horse riding trip. Gorge is very good for horse riding there are not steep paths. And also it is good opportunity to watch Kyrgyz nomadic life.
Trekking Program by Route 1:
Tamga village - Djuuka gorge - Kashka-Suu gorge - Kashka-Suu pass (3891m) - Arabel valley - Barskoon pass - Tamga village.
This program is three-day trip along high mountain part of Great Silk Road. During these three days you have got good opportunity of visiting all climatic zones, watching nice mixture of fir tree forests snow peaks, glaciers, alpine meadows and mountain lakes. All this is worth looking at.
Day 1. Transfer Tamga village - Djuuka gorge (65 km). At the confluence of rivers Djuuka and Djuukuchat we make a stop to watch red rocks. Then drive further to the forest zone after this walking (about 5-6 km) to Djuuka and Kashka-Suu rivers confluence. Stop there for putting camp and having lunch. After lunch walking to It-Tish peak (4808m).
Day 2. Hiking down the Kashka-Suu gorge (6-7 hours). First walking in forests and then on alpine meadows. Camping at the mountain lake. There is beautiful nameless mountain (4582m) with hanging glacier.
Day 3. Ascend the Kashka-Suu pass (3891m), and descent to Arabel valley. There car meet us and drive to Tamga village. All way goes along alpine meadows and high rock peaks. Ascend to the pass is not difficult. On the pass you will see lake. There is a wonderful view from the pass. Then easy descend to Arabel valley; all way goes along mountain lakes.
We provide you with transport, meal, guide-translator, porters, tents, mates, and accommodation in Tamga guesthouse. Every tourist should have with them jacket, sleeping bag, trekking-boots, sunglasses.
Trekking Program by Route 2:
Tamga village - Chon-Kyzyl-Suu gorge - Ashu-Tor gorge - Ashu-Tor glacier - Arabel valley - Djuuka pass - Tamga village.
This program is for people with good health.
Day 1. Transfer (70 km) Tamga village - Chon-Kyzyl-Suu gorge (to physiographic station). Then hiking to moraine of Ashu-Tor glacier. Night in tent camp.
Day 2. This day you will cross 7km length glacier, which highest point 4200 meters above sea level. Then descent to Arabel valley. Hiking across glacier is not difficult but you need some skills in mountaineering. Putting a camp near by glacier at the lakeshore.
Day 3. Hiking along Arabel valley to Kashka-Suu gorge and ascend to Kashka-Suu pass (3891m) and descent to forest zone. Despite the fact that climate is quiet inclement there are plenty of fish in rivers and lakes of Arabel valley.
Day 4. Descent to Djuuka gorge. Drive to Tamga village.
We provide you with transport, meal, guide-translator, porters, tents, mates, and accommodation in Tamga guesthouse. Every tourist should have with them jacket, sleeping bag, trekking-boots, sunglasses.
